Dr Andrew Denton is Associate Head of School: Postgraduate and International, at the School of Art and Design, Auckland University of Technology. He lectures on practice-oriented research methods, cinematic arts, and supervises on PhD and Masters projects.
Andrew is a film and video artist who works in digital, analogue, and interactive media. His research interests include: cinematic practices in relation to ecological concerns, experimental cinema and live performance particularly dance that integrates with mixed media, such as performance capture and live video. Alongside his practice-based modes of inquiry Andrew is committed to the development of postgraduate education. His pedagogical approach to learning and teaching capacitates meaningful research practices that are agile, responsive and collaborative. These models include interfacing with relevant stakeholders in social, cultural, and industrial contexts within transdisciplinary approaches.
